COOL SAVINGS REBATE – Rebate Details

COOL SAVINGS REBATE logoThe COOL SAVINGS REBATE Program runs from April 1, 2008 through to December 31, 2008. It is being offered to Ontario residents with existing central heating and cooling systems. Rebates are available for residents who work with a program registered contractor to:

  1. Replace an existing Central Air Conditioning (CAC) system with one that meets or exceeds the ENERGY STAR® standard for CAC systems
  2. Replace an existing furnace with a mid or high efficiency furnace or air handler with a fully variable speed electronically commutated motor (ECM)
  3. Replace an existing non-programmable thermostat with a programmable thermostat

The rebates are:

A $25 rebate for the installation of a programmable thermostat by a program registered contractor

  1. This offer only applies to customers who do not currently have a programmable thermostat.
  2. All services (including purchase and installation) must be performed by a program registered contractor of the COOL SAVINGS REBATE Program.
  3. Installation must occur between April 1, 2008 and December 31, 2008.
  4. Claims for programmable thermostat rebates must be postmarked February 1, 2009.

A $125 rebate for the replacement of an existing furnace with the purchase of a mid or high-efficiency furnace equipped with an Electronically Commutated Motor (ECM)

  1. This also includes propane furnaces, air handlers, oil furnaces, electric furnaces. All units must be indicated on the ECM Eligibility List in order to qualify under this program.
  2. Qualifying furnaces must appear on the list of eligible products.
  3. All services (including purchase and installation) must be performed by a program registered contractor of the COOL SAVINGS REBATE Program.
  4. Installation must occur between April 1, 2008 and December 31, 2008.
  5. Claims for ECM-equipped furnace rebates must be postmarked February 1, 2009.

A $250 rebate for the replacement of an existing central air conditioner with the purchase of an ENERGY STAR qualified central air conditioning system, heat pump, or ductless split system.

  1. ENERGY STAR qualified means the installed product is at least 14 SEER and 11.5 EER.
  2. This offer applies only to customers with existing CAC systems.
  3. All services (including purchase and installation) must be performed by a program registered contractor of the COOL SAVINGS REBATE Program.
  4. Installation must occur between April 1, 2008 and December 31, 2008.
  5. Claims for ENERGY STAR qualified CAC system rebates must be postmarked February 1, 2009.

A $400 rebate for the replacement of an existing central air conditioner with the purchase of an ENERGY STAR qualified, stand-alone CEE "Tier 2" level central air conditioning system (CAC) or heat pump.

  • CEE's "Tier 2" level means the installed product is at least 15 SEER and 12.5 EER.
  • This offer applies only to customers with existing central air conditioner (CAC) systems.
  • All services (including purchase and installation) must be performed by a program registered contractor of the COOL SAVINGS REBATE Program.
  • Installation must occur between April 1, 2008 and December 31, 2008.
  • Claims for ENERGY STAR® qualified CAC system rebates must be postmarked February 1, 2009.
